Call for Posters and Lightning Talks

We would like to invite interested parties to submit applications for posters and lightning talks at the Open Science Festival 2025. During submission, you can indicate if you would like to present a poster, a lightning talk, or if you are open to either option. Selections will be made by the festival Program Committee, and preference will be given to submissions that follow the broad themes outlined below. In your abstract, please specify which theme you believe your paper falls under.

Materials may be presented in English or German.

 Lightning Talks

Have an exciting open science story to share? Step up and deliver a dynamic five-minute lightning talk! This fast-paced session is your chance to showcase ideas, projects, and innovations that drive open science forward. We welcome talks on three themes:

  • Case Studies in Open Science feature established projects that successfully implement open science approaches, demonstrating real-world impact, challenges overcome, and lessons learned in making research more transparent, accessible, and collaborative.
  • Data Visualization and Open Tools explore innovative ways to make research data more accessible and engaging through visualization techniques, open-source tools, and interactive platforms.
  • Open Science in Action highlights how open science drives real-world change, demonstrating its influence on policy, community engagement, and global collaboration.

 Poster Pitches and Poster Session

Prefer to mingle with your colleagues and chat one-on-one? Submit a poster proposal and showcase your work at our interactive poster session! Selected presenters will also have the opportunity to give a two-minute poster pitch to the audience at the start of the session. We welcome posters on three key themes:

  • Innovation in Research Services showcases creative approaches to supporting researchers in open science and research data management (RDM), from new tools and workflows to best practices that enhance transparency, accessibility, and impact.
  • Open Science Theses in the Spotlight highlight student thesis projects that embrace open science principles, showcasing how early-career researchers are advancing transparency, reproducibility, and collaboration in their work.
  • Case Studies in Open Science feature established projects that successfully implement open science approaches, demonstrating real-world impact, challenges overcome, and lessons learned in making research more transparent, accessible, and collaborative.
